An emerging tourist destination of the Middle East, Oman is now a must-visit for a lot of Indian tourists and content creators. If you must know why, I can share 6 reasons why you should visit Oman! Although there is a lot on the web about must-visit places in Oman, there’s a lot of contradictory information on how to apply for Oman visa.

When you search for a visa application for Oman, the first thing that pops up is ‘Oman E-Visa Application,’ but there’s a catch! This e-visa is applicable for ONLY those Indian passport holders who have either a Schengen, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, or Japan visa and NOT for other Indian passport holders who do not have either of the above-mentioned visas.

As someone who is planning a trip to Oman with her aged mother, I was under the impression that I could apply for an e-visa, but after watching scores of YouTube videos realized that we aren’t eligible. Thanks to this particular YouTuber who mentioned it in passing, although he had a Japan visa. This helped me identify the need to precisely mention the conditions under which an Oman e-visa can be applied for and how those who do not have the required visas can apply.

If you do not have either a Schengen, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, or Japan visa, then apply for an Oman Visa through Atlys, a reliable visa agency.

 

VFS is usually my go-to visa agency; unfortunately, they don’t issue an Oman visa. Apart from Atlys, Akbar Travels is the only other agency that works with Oman Tourism to issue visas, but their charges are comparatively higher, and so is the processing time.

 

Super easy and convenient, you do not need to submit any hard copy. Everything is online. Activate your camera for a photo or upload one.

Similarly, for a passport copy, either you need to upload it in .jpeg or .png  or hold your passport to the laptop camera to fit it within a designated block and allow it to scan.

 

You can either select the usual number, which is 5 working days, or you can opt for Express Visa, which is issued in a day (additional processing fees).

This is how it can be applied

• Go to the Home Page

 

• Before creating a new account, click on Know your Visa Type.

 

• Select the Visa Type

 

• The highlighted are the types of Tourist Visa

 

• Go to the login page and click on Register New User to create an account

 

• Fill the form and submit

 

• Select if you want it to be Sponsored (if someone is sponsoring your trip) Or else select Unsponsored.
• Go back to Login as a Tourist and enter your credentials.

 

• Apply for unsponsored visa

 

Select India/ or other countries

 

• If you are under GCC, then select Yes or else No

GCC is the Gulf Cooperation Council that economic union of six Middle Eastern countries:

1. Bahrain
2. Kuwait
3. Oman
4. Qatar
5. Saudi Arabia
6. United Arab Emirates

 

A list of Visa options appear.

 

• Tourist Visa types 26E, 26M and 26N are applicable for non-GCC Indians. But 26E is for dependents of 26N hence head to 26N

 

• Click the highlighted to check the conditions of 26N

 

• Check the conditions along with fee and duration of stay.

 

 

• Click on the List of Countries for 26N Tourist Visit Visa that will display the countries for which 26N is applicable

 

• India is in the list

 

• Close the page and return to the types of visa page and click on Apply online here.

 

 

• Fill the first page with all the relevant details

 

• Click on ‘Next’ -> Complete rest of the form and Submit

 

P.S. – Those who have either a Schengen, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, or Japan visa usually get their visa approved in a day (in most cases – after a thorough check by the authorities)

Applying for some visas can be quite tricky, especially if you are used to applying on your own instead of approaching a travel agent. Nevertheless, you are attuned to the document requirements, conditions, and timelines that allow you to assist others too (which is what I am trying to do).
